Copeptin and Stress

چکیده
Vasopressin (AVP) and copeptin are released in equimolar amounts from the same precursor. Due to its molecular stability countless advantages as compared with AVP, perfectly mirrors AVP presence has progressively emerged a reliable marker of vasopressinergic activation response osmotic hemodynamic stimuli clinical practice. Moreover, evidence highlighting prognostic potential several acute diseases, where system is primarily linked stress, well psychologically stressful conditions, emerged. Furthermore, organic stressors induce rise levels which, although non-specific, unrelated plasma osmolality but proportional their magnitude: suggesting disease severity, proved be biomarker such sepsis, early post-surgical period, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular or pulmonary even critical settings. Evidence on this topic will briefly discussed article.

everything that disturbs the homeostatic balance of the body can be defined as stress and any stress factor activating the hypothalamic- pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis causes an increase in arginine vasopressin (AVP) plasma concentrations. AVP is a 9 amino acid peptide in the ring structure and derived from pre-pro vasopressin. Pre-pro vasopressin is a pro hormone that synthesized by supraoptic ...
متن کاملCopeptin under glucagon stimulation
Stimulation of growth hormone (GH) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion by glucagon is a standard procedure to assess pituitary dysfunction but the pathomechanism of glucagon action remains unclear. As arginine vasopressin (AVP) may act on the release of both, GH and ACTH, we tested here the role of AVP in GST by measuring a stable precursor fragment, copeptin, which is stoichiometr...
متن کاملCopeptin level and copeptin response to percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty in mitral stenosis.
We aimed to investigate copeptin levels in mitral stenosis (MS) patients and the behavior of copeptin after hemodynamic improvement achieved by percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV). The study involved 29 consecutive symptomatic patients with moderate to severe rheumatic MS who underwent PBMV. Twenty-eight age- and gender-matched healthy volunteers composed the control group. Blood s...

ity [3] . An elevated copeptin level was noted to be associated with reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and simple renal cyst growth in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) [1] . Therefore, it is proposed that copeptin can serve as a marker of the progression of renal cystic disease. In renal transplant recipients, an association between baseline c...
متن کاملArginine Vasopressin and Copeptin in Perinatology
Arginine vasopressin (AVP) plays a major role in the homeostasis of fluid balance, vascular tonus, and the regulation of the endocrine stress response. The measurement of AVP levels is difficult due to its short half-life and laborious method of detection. Copeptin is a more stable peptide derived from the same precursor molecule, is released in an equimolar ratio to AVP, and has a very similar...
